Cindy joined Starburst in 1993 to assist her husband, Phil Carey* in growing the business. Born and raised in San Jose, Ca. Cindy has always been industrious from working in the family side business at a young age, to starting a paper route at age 12 and then putting herself through college. Upon graduating from SJSU, Cindy worked in the high-tech world focusing on marketing and advertising.
With these skills, it made sense for Cindy to help Starburst grow. She has run the office operations, handled Starburst marketing and customer service and aided in business planning. Today, along with the Starburst team, she can be found at job sites, answering the phones/emails and collaborating with clients to create a wonderful remodeling experience.
In her free time, Cindy loves to travel, read and spend time with family (especially her wonderful grandsons).
Brian is Cindy and Phil’s* youngest son. He has worked in every aspect of the business from cleaning up job-sites and helping in the office to becoming a lead carpenter to, now, being the Starburst leader. He attended Cabrillo College and has continued his education partaking in business conferences and earning certifications. He is always looking for ways to improve the company and is excited to be carrying on this family legacy.
Starburst’s clients have come to depend on Brian’s guidance and suggestions during the construction process, his keep eye for detail and his proactive approach to accomplishing tasks.
Brian is married and has two young boys. They can often be found hitching up their trailer and heading for the great outdoors.
Marissa is Brian’s wife. Marissa has always been enterprising and she is an extremely responsible, hard worker. After graduating from De Anza College for accounting, she worked for many years in commercial construction and brought those skills with her to Starburst. She joined the Starburst team fully in 2016.
Record-keeping, bookkeeping, project meetings and assisting clients fill Marissa’s days and she is always looking for ways to be more efficient and help the business.
On top of caring for their two boys and family, Marissa has a love for animals and their puppies and cats are very much a part of the family. She loves being outdoors, spending time with family and friends and when she has a free moment, sneaking in a good book.
*Phil Carey is the Starburst Founder, after spending much of his teen years working with family on summer construction projects to taking construction management classes at San Jose City College to joining the Carpenters union in the late 70’s, Phil decided to put his management knowledge to work with his skills and formed Starburst Construction. Known for his attention to detail and getting things done right, he and Starburst became the go to builder for many architects and clients in the bay area. Phil is proud to have Brian taking over the at the helm and looks forward to seeing many more unforgettable projects created by the team.
