I was foolish enough to hire a "handyman" to work on my plumbing and heating. It turned out that he was both dishonest and incompetent. I am writing this letter in the hopes of saving someone else the grief and money loss that I experienced.
Phil Carey of Starburst Construction is skilled and completely honest. He repaired all the mistakes done by the handyman and did a perfect job of converting a masterbedroom suite. Everything turned out exactly as I wanted. I especially appreciated Phil's frequent phone calls to keep me informed and the fact the he didn't make any additional charges.

Sometime back you asked if I would drop you a short letter after you completed a remodeling contract at my house. You requested that if I was satisfied with the job, I should say so. If I wasn't happy, you wanted to know that as well. Fortunately, you were much more timely reacting to my requests during the job than I have been responding to your. I apologize for my slowness-I don't even have a good excuse!
The job you did for me consisted of remodeling the kitchen and adjacent family room. You removed everything in both rooms, including cabinets, floor covering, and an acooustical ceiling in one room. You and your people were knowledgeable, flexible (within reason), reliable (if a service was promised at a specific time, it was delivered OR we were told of any change in advance), and you left a straightened up work area at the end of the day. The installation portion of the job went equally well. You worked with assorted sub-contractors to insure an orderly progression with time alloted for drying, curing and the things that come up no matter how good the plan or schedule is.
We have received nothing but praise for the finished job. Several people have brought friends over to see the rooms which has led to more kind words. Even my sister-in-law likes it and she is picky!
If you would like to bring someone over to see what kind of work your firm does, feel free to give us a call. They can even look at the bath your remodeled a couple of years ago! I think it speaks well for your work that we looked seriously at only one other contractor before going with you again. Thanks again for a job well done.

We wish to express our appreciation for the professional and expeditious manner in which you completed the remodeling of our home.
Coordinating all of the work necessary to convert a bedroom to a dining room and replacing two thirds of all the house windows requires a lot of experience and "know how." Additionally, the exercise of your diplomatic talent was equally displayed by obtaining required permits and and scheduling the various subcontractors so that no conflicts would arise to interfere with their assigned tasks. As a result, the work site always had an air of organization and complete harmony which allowed us to carry on with our daily lives without any undue mental stress.
We were particularly impressed with your attention to detail. For example, you always came to work on time and at the end of each day, you cleaned up the work site. This extra effort kept the area and other parts of the house free from dust and obstructions that we may otherwise would have had to walk around or avoid. Being non-smokers, we were very pleased to learn that you allowed none of your workers to smoke in the house. You also permitted us to make several changes at your discretion after the remodeling had commenced. Small details such as these were very important to us.
As far as the overall job is concerned, we are completely and unconditionally satisfied with your high quality workmanship. All of the new construction matches the rest of the house to the extent that one would never guess that we had any remodeling done. The dining room appears as if it were constructed with the house originally.
Without any reservation, we highly recommend you to anyone who desires to employ a contractor with high standards and is capable of producing a quality end result.

My experience with Starburst Construction and Phil Carey was, and continues to be, excellent. From the beginning, Phil presented himself in a professional manner.
His first bid/estimate was detailed and complete but was easy to understand. I had never done an extensive remodel, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. Phil made it a painless process. He explained every aspect of the job. As we worked through the plans, Phil was great at putting on paper what I either showed him or tried to explain in words. I had a complete computerized drawing of my kitchen and he would send me to showrooms/displays to make my decisions easier. Changes were met with a positive attitude and an "OK, let's do it."
The final contract was very complete with dates, financial and legal responsibilities, and clear descriptions. Any cost increases, of which there were very very few, were fully explained.
Phil made every effort to keep life as normal as possible during the construction. The "mess" and dust was kept to a minimum. The sub-contractors were first class, appearing on time and cleaning up at the end of the day. Phil would check and double check as each job was completed. If something was not up to his standards, it was corrected immediately. Phil kept to his schedule, in fact, my kitchen was completed two days ahead of schedule.
"Getting the job done right" is Phil's motto, starting with all the necessary permits. All inspections were passed on the first try. He did not "cut corners" or "slide by" which shows in all the compliments I receive. My remodel was done three years ago and I continue to have Starburst do smaller projects in my home.
If you are dreading a remodel or any construction project, I can highly recommend Starburst Construction. Your job will be done to your complete satisfaction and the experience will be a good one.

I would like to highly recommend Phil Carey and Starburst Construction to anyone contemplating remodeling or building a home. Starburst has just finished a remodel project for us that added over 200 square feet to our home including enlarging the family toom, the master bedroom, both bathrooms, the dining room and adding a completely new walk-in closet to our master bedroom as well as three new skylights. The project also included a completely new roof, new patio, all new windows throughout the house and a complete repainting of the exterior and interior.
All work was finished with excellent results, in a timely fashion and with a minimum of inconvenience to our family members. Phil handled all the sub-contractors himself (in fact, I would recommend all of Phil's sub-contractors as well). Phil finished all original bid specifications within his quoted price and provided fair and timely quotes and completion of all the "extras" we added during our project.

We really appreciated the fine job you and your company did in remodeling our home. Our project was a first for us... We knew we needed to remodel in order to make our home more accessible for a wheelchair, as well as, to deal with my fatigue issues associated with a chronic progressive disease like multiple sclerosis.
I remember when we first met, we had some ideas on what we wanted to do but we weren't quite sure what was possible or any idea as to the process. You got us started in the right direction, provided positive input, located an architect who was familiar with handicapped remodeling requirements, and helped us develop a design and plan to deal with my disabilities.
Throughtout the construction process, I felt you did everything possible to aid me with my disabilities. Everyday the job site was left NEAT AND CLEAN and free from major obstacles so that I wouldn't trip and fall. This significantly reduced the stress associated with the remodeling project. I also know my wife appreciated your efforts; it's nice to come home from work and not find your home in turmoil from the day's events.
Your attention to detail and constant desire for perfection stands out in the quality of work you do. Friends and relatives who have seen the final product are truly impressed.
I also can't say enough about the people who work for you. During construction you become acquainted with several individuals who work in the very aspects of the project. These men worked hard, were trustworthy, and often did "little extras" regarding things you just didn't think of when the plans were drawn. I especially want to say how much we enjoyed Wayne, Art and Bob. We felt like they had become part of our family during the construction.
Undoubtedly, we will be happy to refer you to anyone who needs remodeling work done, especially if any of the work involves disability modifications. Our home will be available to you to show other potential clients how a successful remodeling project was accomplished. Thanks again!

It's quite a project to add to an existing house and it can be very inconvenient during the construction. But we can honestly say that there was a minimum of disturbance while the work was being done. For all the fuss and bother that we put you and your company through, we are very pleased with all the work you did for us.
We have had family and friends over and they agree that it was a very professional job. We have been asked if the new bathroom with the six foot long, three foot deep tub is available for rent. Several couples have asked to spend the night at our home to "try the tub out for size."
Phil, the experience was unique and at times, frustrating, and I'm glad it's over. You and your people did a professional job and we are very pleased with the results. Saving the concrete in the patio area was a fantastic feat.
Thank you for the professional job that you and your sub-contractors accomplished. You did a very good job for us and it is very much appreciated.
