Phil is a California native. At the age of fifteen he started helping his grandfather with family building projects. After graduating from Archbishop Mitty High School, he took construction management and procedure classes at San Jose City College. He quickly became one of the best framers for new homes in Silicon Valley. A detour through Utah, led him to form Starburst Construction where he built hundred’s of custom, luxury homes and vacation homes in Park City, UT and beyond. Finally back to California in 1989, Phil has become the go to builder for many architects with difficult projects. His attention to detail can be seen in the homes he builds, the American Flyer trains he restores and his ability to remember baseball plays from his 20+ years of coaching.
Born and raised in San Jose, CA, Cindy has always been industrious from working in the family side business at a young age, to starting a paper route at age 12 and then putting herself through college while working. Upon graduating, from San Jose State University with a major in public relations and a communications minor, Cindy jumped into the up and coming (then) world of computers, leading a team in marketing and advertising. Coming into Starburst Construction made sense as the family and business grew, Cindy started working in the office. Now, 20+ years later, her position has evolved and meeting clients, overseeing administrative operations, business planning, marketing and customer service fill her days, while her free time is spent hiking, reading and having fun with family (especially her adorable grandkids).
The youngest son of Phil and Cindy, Brian has always worked in the family business, from cleaning up job sites and delivering customer appreciation gifts, when he was young, to becoming project manager and client liaison, today. Always enjoying art led Brian from mastering Art classes and woodworking at Pioneer High School to being the true wood craftsman he is today. He continued his education at Cabrillo College and other vocational outlets, and is a Certified Carpenter and a Building Performance Analyst. He is on every project and personally helps each client. As one client said “if he wasn’t your son, I would take him, everyone needs several Brian’s”. He enjoys spending his free time outdoors, fishing, hunting and playing baseball.
Marissa joined our team in 2015 consulting on strategic business growth as she added to her experience working in commercial construction. She is Brian’s fiancée’ and the plan was that she would join Starburst when the time was right. That happened in 2016. Marissa came fully on board to run the office and keep the financial wheels of Starburst on the right track. Always with a love of numbers, Marissa attended De Anza College for accounting and continues to learn new and more efficient ways of running the office. She is the friendly voice of Starburst and always ready to help with any situation for all of our clients. Marissa loves her puppies and kittens. She enjoys being with friends and family, and joins Brian outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening.
